Biography - Gary Holdsworth CCMIT ​

Gary is a widely experienced musician and teacher. He has been playing the clarinet professionally for the last 20 years and in that capacity, has worked with the English National Ballet, BBC Concert Orchestra, London Concert Orchestra, and many other orchestras. As a freelance musician, he has participated in a large variety of work, ranging from chamber music recitals to studio recording. From 2000 to 2003, he played Principal Clarinet for Moscow City Ballet with whom he has toured extensively.

​Gary studied Musical Instrument Technology (Woodwind Making and Repair) for 3 years at Merton College, completing the course in 2006. During that time, and subsequently, he has assisted Peter Eaton in his production of the “Elite” and “International” clarinet range, as well undertaking repair work for local schools, music shops, and individuals. From August 20011 to November 2012, Gary has been the clarinet and saxophone repairer for Jonathan Myall Music Shop in Croydon.​

Gary is a specialist in clarinet and saxophone repair, and has now set up a fully equipped workshop at home to provide a professional service to customers in the London area. Work is undertaken on all types of instrument from the beginner to the professional, as well as on the more specialised instruments, such as the basset horn, bass and contra-alto clarinets.  Services on instruments for schools and local authority music services are available at a  discounted rate.
